Zoom - BC Bike Race Stage 6 in Squamish

Zoom, originally uploaded by John Irvine.

Whipped up to Squamish to get some shots of the BC Bike Race. Got into the burms at the bottom of Pseudo Pseuga. and set up two lights. One immediately left of the riders up close and on a tripod, and one down hlill and right of the riders on the ground on a gorilla pod. Panned the shots at a slow shuttler speed to get the blurring and had the flashes set to rear cutain so I could freeze the rider and get good detail of them as they passed. Details below.

Yaletown Grand Prix 2009

Had the pleasure of going to the Yaletown Grand Prix and shooting the pros. n this shot I set up a Nikon sb900 to the right of the rider, on a gorilla pod, attacehd to the race fencing. It was at dround level. Sat on the ground at the back of this corner and shot as the racers came by. Details below.

Was a great race to watch. In the mens Race, long time Whistler local Will Routely left the group and lapped the field with about 3 laps to go. In the womens race, Alison Testorete dominated from within the pack, jumping during the primes and at the sprint to easily win the race. Its one of my favorite races to watch given the tricky corners and little climbs.
